Update 6 August
The first three runners home in Race 5 were Paul Alcock, making his second guest appearance, Brian Plumb, recording a PB, and Eilish Ivin, making her debut appearance this season. They haven’t run enough races this season to impact the tables, but there has been some swapping of positions at the top of the women’s table with last year’s series winner Gemma Beahan gaining a 10-point lead ahead of Amin Ahmed in second place and Carrie Hoban in third. All three have run 5 races so far.
Ben Isaac keeps his lead at the top of the men’s table with Rav Sangha now in second place and Paul Robbins not far behind in third. These three have also run 5 races so far.
There is one more race in the series and as it is the best five to count the the final result is yet to be called.
Update 2 July
It was the bonus points that did it. Although second home to first home Sam Harvey-Owen, Yvonne Boyle continues to reign at the top of the women’s table thanks to another PB run. Amin Ahmed is not far behind in second place, whilst last year’s series winner Gemma Beahan lies third.
For the men, the first three home were Robert Halford, Terry Moynihan and Rob’s brother Dave. But Ben Isaac and Will Barber retain their first and second place positions in the men’s table with Paul Robbins in third.
Update 10 June
Getting home in first place in Race 3 and with a third Handicap PB in a row and the accruing points Yvonne Boyle has regained her prime position at the top of the women’s table. Gemma Beahan was not far behind as second finisher and occupies second place on the table. Amin Ahmed also scored some bonus points and now lies third in the table.
In the men’s table just 7 points separate the top three places, occupied by Ben Isaac, Will Barber and Rav Sangha.
The turnout for Race 3 was 88 members and guests.
Update 6 May
Rebecca Barber, making her series debut, took the first place honours this time around, with Tracey Williams not far behind.
After a strong performance in Race 1 Yvonne Boyle’s starting position further back left her with some work to do to maintain her table ranking. With the benefit of some bonus points she nearly did it but last year’s winner Gemma Beahan also accrued bonus points which propelled her into the the no 1 slot.
So, after Race 2 it’s Gemma Beahan, Yvonne Boyle and Liane Powell who occupy the top three places in the women’s table.
Ryan McNeill, also making his series debut, was first man home. Despite finishing down the field, Ben Isaac also accrued some bonus points but it not was not quite enough for him to maintain his lead lead at the top of the men’s table, Stuart Clements nudging ahead to take the top spot, pushing Ben into 2nd place with Craig Webb anow in third place.
Update 1 April
On a coolish April evening 102 members and guests took on the challenge of the first race of the 2026 Summer Handicap Series.
Yvonne Boyle was the first to reach the finish line, followed in by last year’s series winner Gemma Beahan and Carly Coyle.
Adrian McBride was the first man home, Richard Arnold the second male and Ed Hinchcliffe the third. However Adrian was nudged off the winning position by Stuart Clements who finished in 10th place but gained places thanks to the bonus points rule.

Important: We use the parkrun system for recording results. You MUST therefore bring your parkrun barcode with you. No barcode = no result.
If you don’t yet have a parkrun barcode sign up at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/
You also have to tell us that you want to take part – it’s no good just turning up on the night. You won’t have an allocated start time.
Fill in the form on the website to let us know that you want to be included. If you ran in the 2025 series the handicapper will use your times from last season to allocate you with a start time. Otherwise give us an estimated finishing time and explain the basis for that time. For example, it could be a recent parkrun or other 5k time.
Remember to bring your parkrun ID barcode with you.
(This can be the parkrun barcode on your phone)
