Timberhonger 10k, Bromsgrove – 31 August10K

Robert Halford 00:50:18 2nd in age category

A tough roller-coaster run mainly up Timberhonger Lane, finishing on the only flat part of the course in Sanders Park. Very happy with my run and 2nd in my age group.

Saturn Running – Will Run for Ice Cream Marathon – 30 August10K

  Claudie Combelas 04:43:30

A complete contrast – an undulating and very, very wet and stormy laps marathon on the site of an old colliery at Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare, Wales. A lovely park, nice lakes and café. Sure it would be even lovelier in the sunshine.

Winchcombe 10k, Sudeley Castle – 24 August10K

53 Spencer Davies 01:01:33

A run with a hill that takes some climbing. Very well organised, cheerful marshalls and friendly competitors. But that hill, wow.

KYLE TURNER

Set out in warm, humid conditions for a club run this evening. The first couple of miles felt comfortable, and the pace was smooth. By halfway, the heat began to take its toll and I could feel the energy slipping. The long climb that followed was a real battle — legs heavy, stride shortened, and I had to really dig in to keep moving forward. Once at the top, I managed to settle back into rhythm and finish strongly.

Covered 6 miles in total, and despite the conditions, equalled my 10K personal best — something I wasn’t expecting when struggling up that hill.

The highlight was seeing the whole club do so well tonight. Everyone handled the heat brilliantly, and the support out on the route made a real difference. A tough but rewarding run – Kyle

Phoenix Prosecco Run Marathon – 10 AugustM

  Claudie Combelas 05:28:07

A very hot undulating 8 laps round a vineyard at Denbie’s Wine Estate, Dorking. Prosecco at every lap if you fancied it. Thirty degrees and no shade made for a very tough run.

Run Sandringham 24-Hour Event – 9/10 AugustOTH

  Jan Watson 22:34:39
  Tracey Williams 22:34:40

Both ran 6 laps, each lap 5 miles

Jan and I travelled to sunny Sandringham for a 24-hour running event. We arrived on Friday and spent the evening watching the entertainment, Teddy Newberry who was good on guitar and a plumber playing drainpipes who is famous on TikTok!

We got up early on Saturday and walked to Sandringham Parkrun, a beautiful course on woodland trails and tarmac paths. The Parkrun was busy and they had a record turnout.

TRACEY WILLIAMS

We walked back to the event village and got ready for the main event, the 24-hour event starting at noon. The course was stunning. The conditions were hot with full sun, but fortunately there were some shady trails to run through. We ran 4 laps on the Saturday and then decided to stop, shower, and rest. We got up early on Sunday and completed 2 more laps each. A total of 6 laps and 30 miles. My first ultra and Jan’s second ultra in 3 weeks.

We met some lovely people and had fantastic support from “Regal Runners”, they recognised us from the Sandringham Parkrun and called us the “parkrun Ladies” and cheered us in from their trackside camp each lap. They fed us homemade rocky road cake and told us they worked at Sandringham House- that was the closest we got to royalty. So many runners commented on our outfits – full Northbrook kit sunburst tops and Northbrook skort and shirts. They loved the colours and the design.

We stayed for the presentation and were pleased to see Daventry Road Runners win first place in the team event. We also saw Pete from Bournville Harriers who said to say "hello" to Tim.

We had a great weekend and would like to return next year with more Northbrook team mates – Tracey

Brecon Beacons 24km Trail Race – 9 AugustOTH

  Kyle Turner 03:26:13

KYLE TURNER

A beautiful trail race with exceptional scenery, tough climbing and lots of technical terrain to navigate – tarmac, canal towpaths, loose rocks, gravel, fields and dusty paths. The views and atmosphere were worth it; a well-organised event as usual from the Run Through team.

CLAUDIE COMBELAS

After the marathon the day before I realised how unfit I was. Next morning I had incredibly sore hips, quads the lot. I didn’t think I could do one lap and thought about stopping at that point. I managed to do 3.5 laps and get a half-marathon.

Onwards it is then …

Enigma Football League 2025 Marathon – 2 AugustM

  Claudie Combelas 04:55:09

7.5 laps in the sunshine around Caldecote lake, Milton Keynes. After only one run since June it was tough.
