NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETINGS

  1. Apologies – T. Moynihan (President) A. Mackness (Treasurer)
  2. Committee Roles – Sarah Duffy has stepped down as Social Secretary and advertised for a replacement.
  3. Health and Safety – Rob Richardson gave a training update and reported no health and safety incidents last month.
  4. Treasurer’s Report – Tony Mackness sent details of accounts. The expenditure was mainly for garage rent, EA affiliation fees, and 10K-related expenses.
  5. Training – Rob Richardson provided an update on the training program, including new training leaders and plans to make training more interesting by going off-road during the summer. He also mentioned a successful meeting where coaches exchanged views and ideas, especially the progress of the groups and the pipeline of new members. The committee also discussed the issue of non-members attending sessions. They agreed that genuine people will make a decision after three or four sessions. However, there is a concern about how to know if people attending the training sessions are members or not.
  6. Events – Everyone thanked Spencer Davies for his hard work and dedication in organising lots of events including the Hilly 100. The event was a success, and everyone had a good time. The club is expecting a big turnout for the Two Castles event on Sunday.
  7. 10k race – The 10k club event needs more volunteers.
  8. connectmyClub – The committee backed the use of connectmMyClub instead of Facebook for communication and the importance of using cConnect My Club as the main funnel of connectivity. Bob Adams will send a message to Roger to apologise for a message not using the ConnectmyClub platform and encourage more use of the platform.
  9. Runners of the Month – May 2024 – The winners are Claire Messenger and Kevin Spare. There were votes for several other candidates including Claire Messenger, Kirsty Murray, Andy Masson, Adrian Powell, Kevin Spare, and Charlie Jones.
  10. Any other business:
    1. England Athletics vote – Bob Adams discussed two proposals from England Athletics and UK Athletics regarding changing the age groups for runners. The committee agreed to vote with the England Athletics proposal. Mark Baker will print out the form and cast the club’s vote to reject the UK Athletics resolution.
    2. Club Photo – Tim Hughes will ask someone to take a photo at the July Summer Handicap or parkrun.
  11. Next Meeting – Tuesday 2 July 2024 at 7.30pm to be held by video conference.
