- Apologies – S. Duffy (Social Secretary)
- Matters arising from previous minutes – None.
- Treasurer’s Report – Tony Mackness circulated details before the meeting. The lockup rental payment has increased.
- Membership – We have 215 members who have renewed so far.
- Health and Safety Incidents – There were no reported incidents.
- Events – The men and women have been competing in marathons and half marathons recently. Notable performances were Adrian McBride breaking the men’s club marathon record, and Amanda Deavy finishing as first woman in the Coventry half marathon. A ‘Bannister mile’ event was held by the club in the Memorial Park. The Cotswolds Hilly 100 relay is the next big team event and will be promoted on ‘Connect My Club’. There is also a team in the British Masters relay. We need to arrange dates for ‘Race the train’ and ‘GBU’.
- Social Events – There are no events booked. The committee are seeking a successor to Sarah Duffy as Social Secretary.
- Training – Thanks to all the leaders for continuing to organise sessions. Rob Richardson plans to arrange a meeting with leaders after training on Wednesdays. There are more people qualifying with a LIRF or CIRF qualification. The Thursday improver sessions are popular and attracting a lot of interest as well.
- 10k race – The event will be held on Sunday 7th July 2024. The Fun Run is also back. Terry Moynihan discussed lots of logistics and plans. Entries are coming in well at the moment, after publicity at the parkruns. Volunteers are needed to help on the day.
- Runners of the Month – April 2024 – There were many outstanding performances in April, so there were two winners of mens and womens categories. Men: Adrian McBride (smashing the mens club marathon record in the Manchester Marathon with a terrific time of 2h 36m 35s), Tim Hughes (an inspirational training leader to several of our members who were preparing to run their own marathon races – he then went on to achieve a great time himself in the Manchester Marathon), Women: Amanda Deavy (victory in the Coventry Half Marathon), Julie Liggett (making a terrific debut in the London Marathon).
- Any other business:
- Summer Handicap – the June race is on 12th June as the Sphinx 5 miles race is on the previous Wednesday. Thanks to Richard French for organising the handicap times, and Tim Hughes for the prompt results, as well as all the volunteers helping at handicap eve.
- British Masters Relay – the committee agreed to fund club entries.
- Coventry Half Marathon 2025 – the date for next year’s race clashes with London, Manchester and Stratford marathons. Terry Moynihan has written to the organisers to ask if they could find an alternative date for the event.
- Borrowing Equipment – Kenilworth Juniors want to borrow club equipment soon, but it must be returned in good condition.
- Kit – A new kit order has been requested by some members.
