NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETINGS

  1. Apologies – R. Adams (Chairman) S. Duffy (Social Secretary)
  2. Matters arising from previous minutes – none.
  3. Treasurer’s Report – Tony Mackness circulated details before the meeting and answered questions about the club balance. The club has received details from England Athletics about future subscription fees increasing. This includes a £50 flat increase, plus a £2 increase per member.
  4. Membership – We have 234 total members so far. There are now some reduced membership rates for the final few months of the year for new members.
  5. connectMyClub – Roger Ladbury has launched ‘connectMyClub’ for membership communications. However, the use by members is limited at the moment. Other types of communication are still being used. It was agreed to invite Roger to the next meeting to discuss the steps needed to move forward with ‘connectMyClub’.
  6. Health and Safety Incidents – An incident has been recorded using the online form. The individual is recovering well. There was a discussion about whether any further steps are needed or not, which is unclear at the moment.
  7. Risks and Incident Forms – Terry Moynihan said that scenarios are being considered and will be presented at the December meeting.
  8. Events – The Warwickshire Road Race League has now finished. Spencer Davies will send out details of the club cross-country championships to members. The Midlands Coss-Country relays and Warwick University Coss-Country relays have also taken place. We achieved the 3rd place womens team prize at Warwick relays. The women’s league cross-country dates and venues have been published. The men’s Birmingham League cross-country events details are also available now. The first league cross-country event for men and women is at Aldridge on Saturday 11th November. The Warks Cross-Country Championships are in December.
  9. Social Events – Sara Duffy has sent details about a Christmas event at the Artisan restaurant on 9th December. Bookings and payments should be made as soon as possible. The Awards Night needs to be booked for early March 2024 at Jaguar.
  10. Training – Thanks to all the leaders organising sessions.
  11. 10k race – Tony Mackness reported on our 10k charitable donations. These include UHCW (Coventry hospital), Allesley Scouts and Allesley Festival.
  12. AGM – This will again be virtual, and a date needs to be arranged in early 2024. We will contact the membership about options if they do not have online access.
  13. Runners of the Month – October 2023 – Men: Dave Halford (completed 100 marathons and wrote excellent blog), Women: Clare King (completed Ladybower 50km race with a great result)
  14. Any other business:
    1. London Marathon Club Places 2024 – We should receive 2 club places around the end of November, as we have over 190 members.
  15. Next Meeting – Tuesday 5 December 2023 at 7.30pm to be held by video conference.
