NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETINGS

  2. Matters arising from previous minutes – none.
  3. Treasurer’s Report – The committee (and Tony Mackness in a follow-up) agreed to fund club track sessions next year if they are well supported by members. Also, the club will fund the entries to the Warwick University Cross-Country relays in November at the agreed fee. The club has received details from England Athletics about future subscription fees increasing. This includes a £50 flat increase, plus a £2 increase per member.
  4. Membership – We have 224 paid members. There are now some reduced membership rates for the final few months of the year for new members. Tim Hughes and Roger Ladbury are still making final preparations to use ‘connectMyClub’. This will be used for membership communications.
  5. Health and Safety Incidents – None reported.
  6. Risks and Incident Forms – Terry Moynihan said that scenarios are being considered and will be presented at the December meeting.
  7. Events – The Warwickshire Road Race League continues. However, the Masseys race will not go ahead this year. Several club teams ran in the Sutton Park relays in September, and Terry Moynihan did an excellent job with the organisation. The next team event is the Midlands Cross-Country relays. The women’s league cross-country dates and venues have been published. However only the dates have been published so far for the men’s Birmingham League cross-country events.
  8. Social Events – Sara Duffy will send out more details soon about a Christmas event at the Artisan restaurant on 9th December. The Awards Night needs to be booked for early March 2024 at Jaguar.
  9. Training – Thanks to all the leaders organising sessions. Club funded track sessions will continue next year at various times if there is sufficient support from members. Rob Cox reported that nearly 40 people attended a recent session with Rob Richardson, so there should be good support from members next year as well. As mentioned, funding for these sessions has been approved.
  10. 10k race – Tony Mackness will report on the 10k charitable donations at the next meeting.
  11. Runners of the Month – September 2023 – Men: Adrian McBride (second place in Stratford half marathon), Women: Tracey Cox (super-sub in Midlands relays).
  12. Any other business:
    1. Club Photo – Thanks to Roger Ladbury for taking the photo at Jaguar before training on Wednesday 13th September. There will also be a further photo next Spring or Summer.
    2. Volunteers Recognition – it was agreed previously that volunteers at events should be recognised. Tim Hughes will provide a list of volunteers who supported events.
    3. AGM – the club needs to decide if this will be on-line or at the Jaguar, or both.
    4. London Marathon Club Places 2024 – We should receive 2 club places around the end of November, as we have over 190 members.
    5. Coventry Half Marathon – the event is returning on 29th October with a new route and new organisers.
