A. Mackness (Treasurer)
T. Hughes (Membership Secretary)
S. Eason (Women’s Captain)
R. Cox (Coaching Co-ordinator)
In attendance:

- Apologies – S. Davies (Men’s Captain), S. Duffy (Social Secretary)
- Matters arising from previous minutes – none
- Treasurer’s Report – Tony Mackness circulated details before the meeting and answered questions about the club balance.
- Membership – Tim Hughes said we have 132 members renewing so far.
- Events – The cross country season continued with the final men’s Birmingham League race, and the women’s Midland League race in Coombe Abbey. The National Cross-Country Champs in Cheshire were also well supported. Later we have the Midland Road relays and the Cotswolds Hilly 100.
- Social Events – The Awards Celebration Evening on 18th February 2023 at Jaguar was a great success. Thanks to Sarah Duffy for organising the event.
- Leaders Training – Rob Cox reminded us that run leaders already have to take an online safeguarding course, from April they will also need to take an online first aid course. Some leaders need to renew all or part of their coaching criteria. Club track sessions funded by the club are going well.
- Club Mailing Lists – Roger Ladbury expressed his concerns about the software we use right now which needs a lot of manual intervention and technical knowledge. Roger suggested investigating mailing software used by Masseys called ‘Connect My Club’. There is a cost, but it will improve our ability to communicate easily with our membership. Roger also agreed to apply for a trial licence of the app with a view to running a demo.
- AGM Issues – The committee still has to consider if people are rewarded for volunteering at the 10k race, or other events. Options need to be offered to club membership for a vote.
- Club President Role – The committee is also looking at the process for appointing a club President soon, rather than wait until the next AGM. An online vote will be arranged soon to present Terry Moynihan as our preferred candidate for this role.
- 10k race – Tony Mackness updated us with details of sponsorship funding.
- Parkrun Focus Events – Coventry and Bedworth parkrun focus events being arranged soon, to promote the club, our 10km race and 10km improvers plan.
- Summer Handicap – We are keeping the same course. Runners need to pre-register on our website. Parkrun barcodes must be brought to the event. Runners can get free barcodes on the parkrun website. The first race is on 5th April. The June race will move to 14th June to avoid a clash with the Sphinx 5 miles race.
- Runners of the Month – February 2023 – Men: Tom Hughes (Half Marathon PB and great League XC run), Women: Sally Eason (Leicester Half Marathon run). Mark Baker will send the votes to the committee from next month. Thanks to Roger Ladbury for doing this up to now.
- Any other business:
- Social Media – We are still seeking someone to assist with this role. Spencer Davies contacted the committee members before the meeting to discuss having separate private and public accounts, so that we can be visible to potential new members.
- Jaguar Parking rules – All people who park their vehicles at Jaguar now need to enter their registration number into a machine as soon as they arrive. Machines are in the bar lobby and sports club entrance corridor. There is no charge, but failing to register could lead to a parking fine. This must be done on every visit to Jaguar.
- Project Official – Steve Turvey sent details of an initiative to provide training for athletics officials.
- Next Meeting – Tuesday 4 April 2023 at 7.30pm to be held by video conference.
