A. French (President)
R. Adams (Chairman)
M. Baker (Secretary)
A. Mackness (Treasurer)
T. Hughes (Membership Secretary)
S. Eason (Women’s Captain)
R. Cox (Coaching Co-ordinator)

  1. Apologies – S. Davies (Men’s Captain), S. Duffy (Social Secretary)
  2. Matters arising from previous minutes – Roger Ladbury has done a great job creating web links for events and on the club website. The detailed information is only accessible via official member links
  3. Treasurer’s Report – Tony Mackness circulated details before the meeting and answered questions about the club balance. In particular, it was discussed how much of a reserve is needed to cover any cancellation of the 10km race and outstanding costs. UK Athletics fees are increasing by £1 a member next year, which should be recommended to be passed on in our subscription fees. Damian Pharoah has placed a kit order.
  4. Membership – Tim Hughes said we have 206 members. Tim asked if it is possible to consider reduced membership fees until the end of the year. Also, to consider non-competitive membership status for members who do not enter races.
  5. Events – The Warwickshire Road Race League continues with many members highly placed in their categories. Several teams completed the Sutton Park relays. Many cross-country dates and venues have been announced, although there is a gap for the third League race. Spencer Davies sent a note to encourage members to represent the club in ross-country races. Sally Eason is also encouraging the women’s team to run in cross-country events.
  6. Social Events – Sarah Duffy sent information to reserve 3 dates – 30th October – drinks after Warwick University relays; 3rd December – Christmas meal; 18th February 2023 – Awards Celebration Evening – Jaguar club is booked.
  7. Leaders Training – Rob Cox said we are still encouraging people to complete the LIRF course, but to also take on leadership of training sessions. The elements of the LIRF course will be discussed with future participants.
  8. Funding for Warwick University Track Training – Rob Cox asked for club funding, which was agreed as follows: up to 10 sessions a year (which can be reviewed at future meetings) – this breaks down as 2 sessions for Monday group, and 2 x 4 sessions for the Wednesday ‘Levels’ groups. Cost per session is £50, so ideally more than 10 people would go to each session. This is not for exclusive use of the track.
  9. Runners of the Month – September 2022 – Men: Tim Hughes (PB in Nuneaton 10km race and other improvements), Women: Sarah Batson (won Summer handicap with PB by 2 minutes).
  10. Any other business:
    1. Summer Handicap – there were more people at the final event of the year.
    2. Training Sessions – check whether information is updated on the website.
    3. Jaguar – shower fees of £1 must be paid by all club shower users. General Jaguar renewal fees are due for use of any facilities.
    4. Social Media – Spencer Davies sent a note asking for club to be marketed more on Instagram, Tik-Tok, etc. We will ask for a volunteer to help.
    5. London Virtual Marathon – Tony French agreed to look at the club rules for the London Marathon draw, to see if they consider if the Virtual Marathon affects fairness in the draw.
    6. Phone App for Race Champs – this is too expensive to consider at the moment.
  11. Next Meeting – Tuesday 1 November 2022 at 7.30pm to be held by video conference.
