NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETINGS

  1. Apologies – A. Mackness (Treasurer), S. Duffy (Social Secretary)
  2. Matters arising from previous minutes – none.
  3. Treasurer’s Report – Tony Mackness left access to the accounts with Mark Baker while he is unavailable. No major changes noted recently.
  4. 10k race – Sara Phipps and Terry Moynihan attended to discuss final arrangements for the 10k race. The closing date for entries to the race has been extended. Details for marshalling and helping on the day will be sent out soon. Many thanks to everyone on the 10k committee and everyone else who is helping to organise this event.
  5. Events – Teams competed in the Beer relays and Wacky races and the GBU. Thanks to Rob, Spencer, Tim, and everyone who helped with these and other events. Also, thanks to all the helpers with the Summer Handicap races. The Warwickshire Road Race League continues through the Summer. The Sphinx relay races are being held soon as well.
  6. Social Events – TBC.
  7. 10k Improver Course – Spencer Davies said that training is continuing on Thursdays in Allesley Park and being extended up to the Stratford 10k race.
  8. Birmingham League Cross-Country AGM – there was some pre-discussion about suggested fee structures which seemed unfair. We wrote to the league with our concerns. The final vote retained the current fee structure, but fees will increase by about £40. Details of fixture dates and venues are circulated. Men and women are together for 2 fixtures, including the final races at Coombe Abbey.
  9. Leaders Training – Rob Cox discussed an option of the club committing to yearly LIRF training funding so that there are enough leaders for each level of sessions. Further discussion with the Treasurer is needed, as well as seeking volunteers who are interested.
  10. Runners of the Month – June 2022 – Men: Dan Stevens (great runs in Leamington Half marathon and Warwick parkrun), Women: Kelly Parker and Tracey Davies (Giants Head marathon).
  11. Any other business:
    1. Race the Train – Hampton-in-Arden to Tile Hill station. Date is Wednesday 20th July. Bob Adams and Tony French are walking the adjusted route in advance.
    2. Thunder Run – this is not subsidised by the club this year due to previous dropouts where funding could not be recovered. However, teams will compete and will be mentioned on our social media.
    3. Tony French mentioned a survey of athletics facilities in Coventry.
