NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETINGS

  1. Apologies – A. Mackness (Treasurer), S. Duffy (Social Secretary)
  2. Matters arising from previous minutes – None.
  3. Treasurer’s Report – Tony Mackness circulated details before the meeting. All track session payments have been made for this year.
  4. Membership – We have 148 members who have renewed so far. ‘Connect My Club’ is the area that members are directed to for renewals.
  5. ‘connectMyClub’ – Roger Ladbury and Tim Hughes are still doing a lot of work to tailor this application so it can help the club and streamline communications. We need to let club members know why we are using CMC. Primarily, Roger said that the old email infrastructure was fragile and impossible to maintain in future. We hope that over time, as more content is added to CMC, that it will become the ‘go to’ area for club news. There may be a need to help some members to use the application initially.
  6. Health and Safety Incidents – There were no reported incidents.
  7. Events – TThe men and women league cross country races are now completed, with the final round of races at Burton Dassett and Worcester. The National XC championships at Telford were cancelled until September. The Midlands road relays are taking pace at Sutton Park in March. Cotswolds Hilly 100 is in May.
  8. Social Events – The Awards Night is booked for 9th March 2024 at Jaguar. Tickets have been sold. There will be a raffle on the night.
  9. Training – Thanks to all the leaders for continuing to organise sessions. It is encouraging that many new people have expressed an interest in the LIRF course, but existing leaders are still covering the majority of sessions despite Rob Richardson contacting qualified LIRF individuals who have been less active recently. Rob Richardson also mentioned CIRF courses. The cost for CIRF is a lot more than LIRF. Rob will draft an agreement regarding a framework that is needed against which we support CIRF applications – this includes, what percentage is paid up front by the club, and how many sessions are delivered by the individual once they have completed the course (before they get full reimbursement).
  10. 10k race – The event will be held on Sunday 7th July 2024. Terry Moynihan discussed lots of logistics and plans. The main charity will be UHCW this year again. We can seek member views on future charities. Entries will open soon. We discussed could publicity, and parkrun takeovers and fliers which have been printed.
  11. Runners of the Month – February 2024 – Men: Alan Smith (PB Sutton Park 10k and ran all XC races), Women: Cath Fenn (age awards at Ilmington 10k and Centurion 5 miles).
  12. Any other business:
    1. Summer handicap – members need to register before April races begin.
    2. June Handicap – clashes with Sphinx 5 miles and needs a date a week later.
    3. Coventry Half Marathon – taking place on Sunday 28th April 2024.
  13. Next Meeting – Tuesday 2 April 2024 at 7.30pm to be held by video conference.
