NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETINGS

  1. Apologies – None
  2. Matters arising from previous minutes – none
  3. Treasurer’s Report – Tony Mackness circulated details before the meeting and answered questions about the club balance.
  4. Membership – Tim Hughes said we have 77 members renewing so far.
  5. Events – The cross-country season continued with the third men’s Birmingham League race, and the women’s Midland League race in Aldridge. The Midland Cross-Country Champs were held in Leamington. The final league races are at Coombe Abbey. Later we have the Midland Road relays and the Cotswolds Hilly 100.
  6. Social Events – The Awards Celebration Evening is on 18th February 2023 at Jaguar. Ticket sales close soon. There will be a raffle on the evening. Thanks to Sarah Duffy for organising the event.
  7. Leaders Training – Rob Cox said we are still encouraging people to complete the LIRF course, but to also take on leadership of training sessions. From April, renewing coaches are required to complete a first aid course and maybe a safeguarding course as well. A track session funded by the club is planned soon.
  8. AGM Review – this was held online on Thursday 12th January 2023. The committee has to consider if people are rewarded for volunteering at the 10k race, or other events. Options need to be offered to club membership for a vote. The committee is also looking at the process for appointing a club President soon, rather than wait until the next AGM.
  9. 10k race – the 10k sub-committee asked for ratification from the committee to end our hosting of the Fun Run event alongside the 10k race. Numbers are small and Junior Parkrun has had an impact. This was agreed.
  10. Runners of the Month – January 2023 – Men: Matt Hathrell (great recent results), Women: Jo Arden (top of Champs table recently.
  11. Any other business:
    1. Social Media – Tim Hughes can assist volunteers, and will request volunteers.
    2. Run Leaders – Tim Hughes discussed ideas to recognise leaders.
    3. Parkrun Focus Event – Spencer Davies suggested this for Coventry and Bedworth.
    4. Gazebo – a new cover is needed.
    5. Club Lockup – we have access to the Rainbow lockup after new owners changed lock.
    6. Summer Handicap course – to remain unchanged for safety reasons.
  12. Next Meeting – Tuesday 7 March 2023 at 7.30pm to be held by video conference.
