NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETINGS

  1. Apologies – M. Baker (Secretary)
  2. Matters arising from previous minutes
    • Runner of the month cards have now been purchased and first recipients have received them, feedback is positive
    • Trophies have been engraved and will be ready for Saturday
  3. Social Events
    • Celebration event on 5th March – arrangements have been made and 78 members are due to attend
    • Planning to hold a raffle probably for £2 per strip
    • Sarah to investigate getting access to the room earlier than 5pm for setup
    • Plan to run a survey to find out what people thought about the event
  4. Treasurer’s Report
    • Accounts for January and February were submitted by email prior to the meeting
    • Discussion regarding costs of vests/T-shirts, agreed to continue with the current vest price with an option to ‘upgrade’ to a T-shirt for an additional fee of £8
  5. Membership Secretary Report
    • Currently renewals stand at 86 plus 5 new members for 2022
    • No members have currently advised that they will not be renewing
    • Gentle reminders will be sent through to the end of March at which point names will be removed from the race championships automatically (they use the same list)
    • The new ‘new member’ email packs have been sent to new members and have had some positive feedback
  6. Coaching Co-ordinator Report
    • Training on 15th February was cancelled due to unsafe conditions (high winds), there are no protocols for this – committee agreed that it was OK to handle this circumstance in this way
    • Struggling to fill the level 2 session this week, currently we are overly reliant on Mark Parker
  7. Running Events – Team Captains Update
    • Women’s league cross country – good turnout but could do with more next season
    • Road relays – explanatory email sent out to drum up more interest
    • Hilly Hundred – 65 people have put their name down for this currently – will ask people to refund if they withdraw as per previous
  8. Northbrook 10k
    • Date is 10th July
    • 10K committee will meet next Tuesday
  9. Runners of the Month – February 2022
    • Men – Tony Forde
    • Women: Emily Drage
  10. Any other business:
    1. TCS London Marathon draw – main ballot is due on 14th March, agreed to wait until the main ballot results are available and then open the draw to members who meet the criteria and have an unsuccessful entry. Qualifying races will be March 2021 to March 2022.
    2. 10K improvers prior to the 10K race – are we going to run this, RC to check with the Run Leader group to see if there is enough support to be able to lay this on.
    3. Reports that some runners are more focussed on individual results and that the data in the race championship tables is inaccurate, not clear what the technical issue is. Also, the frequent updates seem to mean that runners are less likely to enter team events in favour of individual events.
    4. New non-competing membership – the website has a tick box regarding being medically fit to run, this is not a requirement for this class of membership. Roger will be updating the wording to cover this off.
