NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETINGS

  1. Apologies – A. Mackness (Treasurer)
  2. Committee Roles – Daisy Robbins will be invited to future meetings to discuss social events.
  3. Health and Safety – Rob Richardson gave a training update and reported no health and safety incidents last month.
  4. Treasurer’s Report – Tony Mackness sent details of accounts.
  5. Training – Rob Richardson and Spencer Davies provided an update on training and coaching. There has not been much training on Wednesdays due to other club events. The Thursday improvers training for the Northbrook 10km race, will continue up to the Stratford Big 10km.
  6. Events – The club organised a successful ‘Race the Train’ event. The Sphinx mile relays were another great event. The Warks Road Race League is continuing. The postponed National Cross-Country event in Telford is in September.
  7. 10k race – The 10k race and fun run successfully took place on 7th July 2024. Terry Moynihan provided a comprehensive summary of the 10K event, highlighting the success of the 5 to 10K improvements group, the engaged planning team, and the positive feedback received. The team discussed lessons learned and future improvements.to everyone involved in the organisation and support of the event:
    1. 5 to 10K Success – Terry praised the 5 to 10K improvements group for its success in attracting new members and participants for the 10K event, with special thanks to Spencer and Simon for their contributions.
    2. Planning Team Engagement – The planning team’s active engagement was noted, with eight members sharing responsibilities, leading to a well-executed event and quicker post-event recovery.
    3. Positive Feedback & Costs – Positive feedback was received for the event, with costs similar to the previous year despite higher expenses due to inflation and pandemic-related carryovers.
    4. Lessons Learned – Lessons learned included technical glitches with chip timing and plans for earlier commencement of planning meetings for future events.
  8. Connect My Club (CMC) – Tim Hughes recommended continuing the Connect My Club subscription for its email distribution and membership database benefits, with the committee agreeing to continue its use. Tim emphasised its role in email distribution and membership management, with the committee concurring on its ongoing utility. The committee reached a consensus to maintain the subscription, recognizing the time invested by Roger Ladbury and Tim Hughes in setting up the system and its potential for improved club communication.
  9. Runners of the Month – July 2024 – The winners are Suki Dhindsa (Compton Verney half marathon and running a half marathon every month) and Damian Pharoah (strong race performances including Northbrook 10km race).
  10. Any other business:
    1. Club Photo – to be arranged at a future event.
    2. Lockup Repairs – Mark Parker kindly repaired the door to the club lockup at his own time and expense. The committee thanked Mark agreed to pay £100 for his repair work, acknowledging the value and savings he provided.
    3. Jaguar Club and Sports Facilities – We have been informed that ‘Elite’ will no longer be operation the sports facilities after 31st August.
    4. London Marathon Club Places – a maximum of 2 places are available per club.
