Present:

T. Moynihan (President)
M. Baker (Secretary)
A. Mackness (Treasurer)
T. Hughes (Membership Secretary)
S. Davies (Men’s Captain)
S. Eason (Women’s Captain)
R. Cox (Coaching Co-ordinator)

  1. Apologies – R. Adams (Chairman) S. Duffy (Social Secretary)
  2. Matters arising from previous minutes – none.
  3. Treasurer’s Report – Tony Mackness circulated details before the meeting and answered questions about the club balance.
  4. Membership – We have 221 paid members so far.
  5. Health and Safety Incidents – None reported.
  6. Risks and Incident Forms – Rob Cox has created Risk Assessments for Road, Off-Road and Track training sessions, these were shared with Catherine Dear and the committee. Terry Moynihan has reviewed the Incident forms, and asked if some items can be optional. The Risk Assessment forms will be reviewed by the end of September. Roger Ladbury is creating an online Incident Report which will also keep a record of all reported incidents.
  7. 10k race – The event was again an enormous success. Thanks to all the organisers and helpers. Tony Mackness said the sub-committee have not met yet, but will meet up soon to review the event in detail, and discuss charitable donations from funds that were raised.
  8. Events – The Warwickshire Road Race League continues. Next club events are Sutton Park relays in September.
  9. Cross Country – There was concern that both women’s and men’s leagues did not have enough events arranged for next season. Sally said that the women now have agreement for all 4 Midland League Division 2 events to go ahead. Terry Moynihan had been investigating the possibility of us hosting a mens Birmingham League event in December, pending Council permission to use Coundon Park. However, that offer assumed that the women would be at the same venue, which is not now the case. As we would have reduced numbers of helpers, Terry will contact the league to suggest that we bid for an event the following season instead, while still seeking permission to use Coundon Hall Park as a venue. Other clubs have been considering hosting a Birmingham League event next season, so hopefully the men will also have 4 events. We await confirmation of this from the league.
  10. Social Events – Sara Duffy will send out more details about a Christmas event at the Artisan restaurant on 9th December.
  11. Club Mailing Lists – Roger Ladbury has committee permission to proceed with ‘connectMyClub’. Tim Hughes is also helping Roger where required.
  12. Training – Thanks to all the leaders organising sessions. Terry Moynihan is interested in gaining a LIRF leader qualification as well. The committee is always keen to hear from other members who would like to gain a leader qualification with the help of club funding.
  13. Summer Handicap – Final event for 2023 is on 6th September.
  14. Runners of the Month – August 2023 – Men: Simon Aldridge (Good performances in WRRL races & great commitment to the club with coaching, 10k improvers & doing ad-hoc Bank Holiday sessions, and managing social media) Women: Karen Brewster (Long time member but getting more races under her belt now & good times).
  15. Any other business:
    1. Club Photo – this will be at 6.45pm at Jaguar before training on Wednesday 13th September. There will also be a further photo next Spring or Summer.
    2. London Marathon Club Places 2024 – We should receive 2 club places around the end of November, as we have over 190 members.
    3. Rainbow Lockup – We can continue to use this lockup, and will not need to change entry codes at the moment. We have permission to repair the door.
    4. Coventry Half Marathon – the event is returning on 29th October with a new route and new organisers.
  16. Next Meeting – Tuesday 3 October 2023 at 7.30pm to be held by video conference.
