31/12/11 | Northbrook Road Race Champs The Road Race tables are compiled from Summer Handicap results, and from results of qualifying races sent in to the web site. At the year end Amanda Deavy and Richard Hodge were at the top of their respective tables. 03/12/11 | Another Big Bham League Turnout by Northbrook Men With another high turnout, Northbrook Men's ‘A’ team finished in 6th place, and the ‘B’ team in 2nd place, at Race 2 of the Bham League cross-country season at Burbage Common on 3 December. After Race 2, the 'A' team are 4th overall and the 'B' team 2nd. Results |
27/11/11 | Warwick University's Endurance Academy will be presenting a series of workshops to support members of England Athletics/Run England, with access to some of the region's leading experts. For their first workshop on 27 November they announced a line up of Bud Baldaro, Vince Clisham, Sarah Connors and Richard Taylor. Further information on their workshops and programme was provided in their flier, with the focus at the first clinic on the 10km road race distance. The attendance limit for this first Road Runners Clinic was 125, with registration on a first come first served basis. |
27/10/11 | Birthday Surprise Win for Mark Baker The Club's ultra champ Mark Baker treated himself to a late birthday present by winning the Staffordshire Trail Marathon at Penkridge on 27 October. Read Mark's report |
23/10/11 | Amanda Deavy First Lady at Rugby In the final race of the WRRL league, the Rugby 10 on 23 October, Amanda Deavy finished 25th overall and 1st lady finisher. With Amanda in a photo finish clubmate Peter Fellows took 1st M55 prize. In addition they each took their relative category titles in the WCAA Championships. PB's also for Tony Hughes and Sarah McNaney. |
19/10/11 | London Marathon 2012 Club Draw On the scheduled draw date, 19 October, there were just 3 eligible entries for the Club's 3 guaranteed entry places, making a draw unneccessary. The recipents were: Mark Dalton, Sean O'Connor and Tony French. |
16/10/11 | Another PB for Pete at Abingdon Coming home 99th Peter Fellows' finishing time of 3:03:11 at the the Abingdon Marathon on 16 October was another PB, and is the fastest marathon time this year for the Club. |
02/10/11 | Coventry Half M60 Win for Robert Simpson Northbrook's leading M60 vet Robert Simpson took the category prize at Coventry's Half-Marathon event on 2 October. The eleven-strong Northbrook entry was led home by 5th lady Rebecca Smith. Still recovering from a recent injury, Jack Langman beat many half his age to come home as 5th M60. Northbrook results |
30/09/11 | Warwickshire Road Race League A series of 10 middle-distance road races starting with the Regency 10k on 15 April and finishing with the Rugby 10 mile in September. Nineteen clubs competed in the 2011 league, with Northbrook Ladies finishing in 3rd place behind Stratford and Leamington. Northbrook Men finished 4th behind runaway leaders Kenilworth, Sphinx and Centurions. In the Veterans categories Northbrook Ladies finished 4th and the Men finished 6th. In the overall Individual competition Northbrook's top men’s finishers were John Wilson in 7th place and Pete Fellows in 8th (3rd MV50); top lady finisher was Anne Hughes in 11th (2nd LV55) place. 04/09/11 | ![]() With a finishing time of 1h 25m 56s Northbrook's Peter Fellows came home in 34th position to take the 1st M55 spot at the Kenilworth Half-Marathon on 4 September. Peter led a 20-strong Northbrook contingent, with notable performances from Robert Simpson (2nd M55), Anne Hughes (3rd F55) and Roy Pye (3rd M65). Northbrook results |
24/08/11 | ![]() In the Warwickshire 5-mile Road Championship, incorporated in the Godiva Harriers Autumnal 5 on 24 August, Peter Fellows took the over 55 title, beating off some younger rivals and finishing in a time of 31m 38s. Peter repeated his WRRL age category win at the half-marathon distance when he took 1st M55 position at the race incorporated in Kenilworth Half on 4 September. Anne Hughes was 1st F55 in the WRRL Championship. |

At Massey's Corporate 5 Challenge multi-terrain race on 9 August Northbrook's John Wilson helped the National Grid Team win their fourth successive trophy, whilst Corinna O'Connor and Gemma Nash comprised two thirds of the second-placed ladies corporate team. Northbrook results |

Northbrook's 5-strong male team ran 31 10k laps (193 miles) in 24 hours to finish 4th at the Adidas Thunder Run on July 30th/31st. Northbrook's mixed team of 8 ran 25 laps (156 miles), supported by solo runs by Paul Stead
(16 laps - 100 miles), Alix Critchley (10 laps - 62 miles) and Tony Bowe (10 laps - 62 miles), who likened it to Glastonbury minus the music. Results and report |
10/07/11 | Sphinx Triumph in Allesley Festival 5k![]() Ashley Miles (Sphinx AC) was first home in 17m 39s, well clear of 2nd placed Andy Wilkinson (18m 34s). Pete Thompson (Sphinx AC) took the Vet Men's prize in 19m 32s. Lucy Smith (Sphinx AC) was first lady home in 21m 14s, and Northbrook's Cath Fenn (21m 50s) took the Vet Ladies prize. Results |
05/07/11 | Northbrook Trio at EMGP With a 5th place in her category in the final race of this summer evening series Lyn McDonald ended up 4th F35 in the overall standings, calculated from the best five finishing positions of the 8-race series. 29/06/11 | Richard Hodge Northbrook's Top Scorer at Sphinx 5 Mile The Annual Midsummer 5-mile race hosted by Sphinx AC on 29 June attracted a capacity field of 250, with local Club runners much in evidence on the 2-lap course around Coventry's War Memorial Park. Richard Hodge, finishing in 14th place with a personal best time of 29:08, was Northbrook's top scorer. PB's also from Trevor Knight, John Wilson and Allan Walsh. 24/06/11 | ![]() Once again, the Club's intrepid adventurer Dave Fawkner decided to do some sightseeing the hard way. This time he chose to run the Cotswold Hilly 100 route. Starting from Stratford racecourse at midday on Saturday 24 June, he found himself back there on Sunday, 100 miles and 26 hours later. You can read how it did it on the June results page |

15/05/11 | ![]() Kenilworth's Richard Simkiss won the 9th staging of this event in 32:52, with Nicki Nealon (Huncote) taking the 1st lady spot in 37:13. Amanda Deavy (39:10) was Northbrook's first counter, and also 3rd lady. In the Junior Run, Joe Downing of Sphinx won the event in 6:23. First girl was Hannah Downing, also of Sphinx, in 7:28. 10/04/11 | Northbrook Ladies Take Regency Crown Northbrook's Amanda Deavy took the lady's prize in the Regency 10k on 10 April with a time of 40m 17s. Club mate Alix Critchley finished as 3rd lady in 40m 56s. With the help of Cath Fenn (44m 11s), Northbrook also clinched the ladies' team prize. Northbrook results |
27/02/11 | ![]() Northbook's ultra specialist Mark Baker completed 161 laps of the Jenner Park track in 5hrs 37m to lift the Gold medal in the Welsh Men's Ultradistance Championship on 27 February. Northbrook's new national champion adds this Gold to the Silver and Bronze medals won in previous years. 12/02/11 | End of Season Near Miss for Northbrook Men A strong turnout of runners and supporters at the fourth race of the Birmingham League Cross-Country season at Cofton Park on 12 February wasn't quite enough to prevent Northbrook men finishing just behind Centurion in the final race of the series. A 16th place finish on the day means that Northbrook will be joining two other Division 2 clubs at the top of Division 3 next season. Northbrook results and report |
