NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING

held on 20th June 2011

  2. Late change of venue – Thanks to Corinna O’Connor for hosting the meeting at late notice.
  3. Matters From Last Meeting –
    1. Andy Houston has collected 108 subscriptions to be sent to England Athletics.
    2. Third summer handicap had approx 47 runners.
  4. Treasurer's Report – Paul Stead gave details of the accounts. Clive Horton has returned a cheque as he is unavailable for a coaching course. Some 10km race income is outstanding.
  5. Mens/Ladies Captain's Report – Recent events were the Cotswold Hilly 100, Comrades Ultra-Marathon, Edinburgh and Copenhagen Marathons, East Midlands Grand Prix, London and Two Castles 10Km and Arden 9.
  6. Social Secretary Report – A Park Run meeting was organised in the Memorial Park, and will be repeated on 16th July. Thanks to Corinna O’Connor for organising the meal at Zorbaz Greek restaurant in Coventry. Next events include a curry at Ali’s in Earlsdon on 16th July and a night at the dog racinge.
  7. 10Km Race – Thanks to the race sub-committee for all their hard work, and thanks to all the marshals and helpers on the day. Tony French sent details of charities we will support.
  8. 5Km Race - The 5Km race is on 10th July 2011. There is no children’s race this year. Coventry Runner are sponsoring the event.
  9. Coaching/Training - Training groups are continuing. Track training is being considered.
  10. Runner of the Month – May: Mark Baker (Comrades Ultra-marathon in South Africa and 3:09 at Shakespeare Marathon).
  11. Any Other Business –
    1. Kit – Bob Adams has a large stock of club vests and hats to be advertised.
    2. Birmingham League – the League approached John Wilson to ask if we could host the 3rd fixture in January 2012. This could clash with Coventry Godiva at Coundon Park, so we will decline unless there is an option to run the same course earlier in the day.
    3. Future Club Events – dates are Wed 22nd June – Track Olympics, Wed 29th June – Sphinx 5 mile, Wed 13th July – Race the Train, Wed 27th July – Good, Bad & Ugly relay.
    4. London Marathon – we will apply for club places soon when membership details are logged with England Athletics.
    5. Road Race Championships – Paul Stead will create a half year list soon.
    6. Sphinx Handicap – any interested runners are invited as guests to future events.
    7. Physio – Paul Andrew supplied discount cards for new member packs
  12. Next Meeting – Monday 18th July 2011, 8pm, at Alix Critchley’s residence.
