NORTHBROOK ATHLETIC CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING

held on 27th July 2009 at Bob Adams' residence

  1. Apologies – A. Fodor (Social Secretary), B. Awcock (President).
  2. Matters From Last Meeting –
    1. Youth Hostel trip – Jerry Trill has nearly 20 names for Dimmingsdale on August Bank Holiday.
    2. Birmingham League –Races: Senneleys, Gloucester, Sphinx, Worcester. Fees are paid. We need to send our contact details to the league. Ladies fixtures to be decided on 2/8/2009. A minibus could be needed for some fixtures.
    3. London Marathon Club Places – these have been requested for 2010, but not yet received. Eligibility rules for the club draw will be updated on the website.
    4. Good, Bad & Ugly Relay – this is on Saturday 22/8/2009 at 5.30pm starting at the Bull & Butcher, followed by a get together at Jaguar. Teams will be formed consisting of 3 members, of different running standards. Please let Mark Baker know if you want to run in a team.
    5. Race the local Train: A successful evening running from Hampton-in-Arden to Tile Hill station.
  3. Treasurers Report – Paul Stead has a £1000 cheque for Marie Curie from the Northbrook 10Km race. An AllesleyFestival donation of  £150 (minus any advertising fees) will be given from the 5Km run.
  4. New Website Update – Roger Ladbury thanked the committee for positive feedback of the new website prototype. Many ideas were received, and the committee were impressed by the new site. Ideas included an injuries page, a coaching page, a blog, a ‘youtube’ link, and a PB’s page. A launch of the new site is planned soon.
  5. Ladies Captain's Report – The ladies team won the Sphinx 5 mile race and competed in other local races. The Godiva 5 mile is on 4/9/2009.
  6. Mens Captains Report – Paul Andrew won the Stratford 6 mile race. The 6-stage relays are on 19/9/2009. The Senneleys Park XC race is on 24/10/2009.
  7. Social Secretary Report - Members attended a UB40 tribute night at Jaguar. There will be a get together at Jaguar after the Good, Bad & Ugly relay on 22/8/2009. Other provisional dates for events are Xmas social event (5/12/2009), Presentation Night (6/2/2010).
  8. Allesley 5 Km Race Review – This was the first year as a measured 5Km race. Many thanks to Bob Adams, and all the helpers on the day.  There were 64 entries, plus 22 entries for the children’s run.
  9. Runner of the Month – June 2009: Alix Critchley (2nd lady in 2 races + won 6 events at Track night).
  10. Any Other Business –
    1. AGM – provisionally planned for Wednesday night – 20/1/2010 at 8.30pm. Training runs will start early at 7pm.
    2. Bleep Test / Shuttle Run – could be arranged for a Wednesday evening. Andy Houston to look into obtaining ‘bleep’ recording.
    3. New Members – John Hosie suggested emailing unattached runners from the 10Km / 5Km races.
    4. Winter Diary – Tony French distributed this, and may add an international section.
    5. ‘Real Buzz’ – Tony French asked if we have to advertise this UKA initiative on our entry forms.
    6. Summer Handicap – two races are remaining, with good turnouts continuing.
  11. Next Meeting – Monday 7/9/2009 at Bob Adams.
